Memory Care is Unique at KMH
Memory Care Manor is designed for residents with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other memory impairments. Our staff receives specialized training to support the physical and emotional needs of those with memory loss. We use an award-winning program called Behavior-Based Ergonomics Therapy (BBET). This program consists of four therapies individually customized for your loved one including Stimulating Therapy, Memory Prop Therapy, Music Therapy and Video Therapy. BBET is
designed to manage and prevent stress caused by boredom and frustration. At KMH, our mission is to provide an active and vibrant community where residents can live life to the fullest.
Memory Care Manor Feels Like Home
KMH provides safe, enjoyable and healthy homes for loved ones experiencing Alzheimer’s, dementia and other memory impairments.
Set up like a casual and comfortable American farmhouse, Memory Care Manor was built specifically with memory-impaired residents in mind. Incoming residents have the option of a private studio, one bedroom or two bedroom apartments with kitchenettes and spacious bathrooms. Memory Care Manor allows space for both privacy and interaction. Residents can choose when to interact with others in shared living spaces and when to be alone in their own apartment.
There’s Lots to Do Here at KMH
Memory Care Manor offers an active and vibrant lifestyle for memory care residents. Daily activities and events for memory care residents at KMH are carefully designed. Using Behavior Based Ergonomics Therapy (BBET), we customize therapeutic activities in a group setting and one on one. The BBET therapy program also encourages family visits and interactions which can lead to improvement in each resident’s quality of life. Residents with moderate-severe memory loss often appreciate engagement without being overwhelmed or frustrated and families have more enjoyable visits with their loved one.
The Wright State University College of Engineering conducted an independent study about the effects of using BBET. The published results show the following improvements within 6 months of using BBET:
- Improvement in mood and behavior issues: 67%
- Reduction of falls: 33%
- Reduction in PRN medications: 47%
- Improvement in behavior episodes: 38%
- Reduction in antipsychotic medications: 65%
